An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from the maker Takom captures the German heavy tank Tiger II (King Tiger / Königstiger), Sd.Kfz.182, in late production form. The kit is 2 in 1 — two different variants of the vehicle can be built from one package. It also holds photo-etched and clear parts and several options of markings. The designation without interior means that the model has no worked-out inside of the fighting compartment; it concentrates on the exterior.
The Tiger II, nicknamed King Tiger or Königstiger, was the heaviest German tank put into series service in the Second World War. It combined heavily sloped frontal armor with a powerful 88 mm gun with a long barrel, which could destroy Allied tanks at long range. Late production vehicles carried the turret of Henschel design and a range of detail changes to the running gear and the superstructure. For its firepower and resistance the King Tiger paid with high weight, a demanding thirst for fuel and lower mobility.
First choose one of the two variants offered according to the instructions — it will affect the choice of parts. Finish and paint the running gear, the road wheels and the tracks before the further steps. Glue the photo-etched parts with superglue, that is cyanoacrylate, and the plastic with liquid modeling cement. Apply a base coat before the airbrush; apply the three-color camouflage finish in thin coats. For a faithful look, bringing the detail out with a wash, filters and mud or dust pigments for the patina of the running gear suits well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
