1:35 Soviet Su-122 is an Eduard photo-etched detail set for a model of the Soviet self-propelled gun in 1:35 scale. It is a set of metal parts for refining a model, not a kit and not masks.

A set of thin metal parts etched by the Czech manufacturer Eduard, intended for detailing a plastic model of the self-propelled gun. It is not a kit or a masking set but an accessory that replaces those parts of a model which cannot be made thin enough in injection-molded plastic. Photo-etched sheet has the correct thickness in scale, and that is why the eye picks out the difference between a molded part and metal sheet on a model at once.
The Su-122 was a Soviet self-propelled gun from the period of the Second World War. It was built on the chassis of the T-34 medium tank and carried a 122 mm howitzer in a fixed superstructure with no rotating turret. The turretless layout meant a lower silhouette, simpler production and a limited traverse for the weapon. Because the fighting compartment was closed and low, the hatches and the sheet-metal fittings on the roof are exactly the places where thin metal shows.
Separate the parts with a sharp scalpel on glass or on a hard surface, not by twisting, as otherwise a burr will be left on the edge. Make the folds in a bending tool or between two razor blades, so that the edge is straight along its whole length. They are glued with cyanoacrylate applied with a pin; on larger areas a gel variant helps, as it gives time to settle the part. Degrease the metal before painting and treat it with a primer, as otherwise the paint will peel. On armored vehicles it pays to fit photo-etched parts before you start with pigments and mud effects, because working with them under finished weathering is difficult.
The set is an accessory for a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
