An injection-molded plastic kit of the German assault gun Sturmgeschütz III Ausf.G in 1:35 scale from Takom. The model depicts the early production form, and its main feature is Winterketten winter tracks — track extensions that reduced ground pressure on snow and muddy terrain. Check the exact package contents and the number of decal schemes against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The StuG III was the most numerous German assault gun of the Second World War, built on the Panzer III tank chassis. Instead of a rotating turret, it carried a 75 mm gun with limited traverse in a low armored superstructure. The Ausf.G version was the most numerous and was deployed for direct infantry support as well as tank fighting. Winterketten winter tracks were fitted mainly on the Eastern Front, where they helped vehicles cope with deep snow and mud.
Finish and paint the running gear and Winterketten tracks separately before fitting them. Paint the interior and fighting compartment before closing the hull. For a winter scene, a whitewash camouflage over the base color works well — it wore and flaked off in period use, an effect you can achieve with a chipping technique. Add mud and snow effects and pigments to the running gear and underside.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
