A sheet of decals in 1:35 scale with the markings of the Tiger I heavy tank carrying the code S04, Russia, February 1944. It serves to finish a built and painted model; on its own it is not a model.
The base under a decal has to be smooth and glossy. Spray clear gloss varnish onto the spot and let it cure: on matte paint, air is trapped under the carrier film and a silvery rim appears around the design. If you are finishing the model with a winter coat, the order does not change: the complete camouflage first, then the gloss varnish, and only then the decal.
Trim the design as close to the printing as possible, dip it for a few seconds in lukewarm water and set it aside on a paper towel. Once it starts to slide freely on the backing paper, slide it onto the moistened spot, adjust the position with a soft brush and blot the excess water away from the center toward the edges. On intricate areas, reach for two-part softeners: the setting solution on the base before laying, the softener on the laid decal. Do not touch a wrinkled film; once dry it will even out by itself and settle into the engraving.
The markings of tanks with a temporary winter coat often appear partly painted over or worn. Do that effect only after sealing the decal with gloss varnish: it can be suggested in spots with a thin layer of winter paint over the markings or by careful sanding with wet abrasive paper. Finally, unify the surface with a matte or semi-matte varnish and add dust and a wash.
The package contains decals. The kit, paints, varnishes and softeners are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
