An accessory set with transport containers for American 105 mm artillery ammunition in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of a gun or a vehicle but scenic equipment: containers stacked at a firing position, piled on the bed of a truck, leaning against a heap of supplies or thrown about around the crew as a trace of firing.
The American 105 mm artillery caliber was one of the most widespread in the whole of the Second World War and afterwards. It was carried by the towed M2A1 howitzer, later designated the M101, by the self-propelled mount on the M7 chassis and, in the Second World War, also by the version of the Sherman tank with a 105 mm howitzer. The complete round was brought to the battery in separate transport containers, which protected the shell from damage and damp; at a firing position the opened containers piled up around the gun, so they are one of the typical visual marks of such a scene. That is exactly why in a diorama they are used in numbers rather than singly.
Choose the glue according to the material of the parts: solvent cement for plastic, cyanoacrylate for resin and metal. Wash resin parts in warm soapy water and cut the casting blocks off with a saw. Cylindrical containers are painted quickly, but a uniform shade on every piece looks artificial — so vary the shades between the individual pieces slightly and add lettering with a fine brush or decals. Set the metal bands at the ends apart in a darker metal, bring the seams out with a wash and dust the lower parts with a pigment. Containers thrown about by a gun look best when they are tilted at different angles.
The set is supplied unpainted and is not a model on its own. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
