Trench section number three in 1:35 scale offers a piece of a field line of the First World War as a ground for a figure scene.
Responsibility details are not available.
A piece from the scenic production of Black Dog that develops the theme of a sunken field line from the years of the Great War. The manufacturer numbers such sections, so a collector can put a longer whole together from several pieces. This is not a kit you would glue together to instructions; what you are buying is a finished shape of terrain to which you add the color and the content.
Trenches were not straight ditches but a winding system with traverses, which kept a whole stretch from being swept by fire along its length. For a modeler that is an advantage: every bend creates a new view and the viewer discovers the scene step by step. A section of the line therefore works even without a single vehicle; two or three figures are enough and the story tells itself.
The strongest means is the contrast between wet and dry. Leave the raised edges matte and dusty, and pour a glossy gel over the floor instead, so that the light is reflected in it. Paint the wooden items separately in a gray-brown with a hint of growth rings and add dark seepage beneath them. For photography, turn the light source low over the scene, because side lighting draws out of the terrain the relief that direct light wipes away completely.
The section arrives without paints and without vegetation, so its final look is entirely your own work.
