A paratrooper carrying a machine gun tripod in 1:35 scale from Dynamo-Models: the eighth number of the line of figures marching through Normandy in 1944.
Responsibility details are not available.
The eighth item of the numbered Normandy line shows a paratrooper whose load is, according to the name, the mount for a machine gun. It is a figure that is seldom missing from a scene and that yet appears only rarely in ranges of figures. It is sold as a single piece meant for a scene of your own, built as you see fit.
A tripod is an awkward load: it is carried over the shoulder or on the back and changes a man's posture more than anything else. A modeler profits from that, because the silhouette of the figure is at once unmistakable and can be told even from a distance in a column. Together with the gunner and the loader it closes a trio that the line offers both as individual numbers and together.
The metal legs of the mount deserve a different approach from the textile: a base in dark steel, careful polishing of the edges with a graphite pencil lead and finally small scuffs where the structure touches the equipment. Keep the uniform matte so that the contrast stands out. Finally unify the whole piece with a faint haze of dust, so that the metal and the cloth belong together and do not look like two separately painted pieces.
