This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard contains stainless-steel photo-etch intended to improve the detail of a plastic model of the American aircraft carrier Hornet in 1:350 scale. It adds the fine elements that injection-molded plastic cannot capture. On its own it is not a ship model, it is an accessory to the base kit.
USS Hornet was an American aircraft carrier of the Second World War. She became famous because the bombers of the first raid on Japan took off from her deck, and she also took part in the pivotal Battle of Midway. She carried a large air group and heavy anti-aircraft armament.
Photo-etched parts are separated with a sharp knife on a firm surface and are usually glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Make the bends along the etched groove. Degrease the parts before painting. The set is useful above all for refining railings, radars, cranes and the details of the flight deck and the island.
This is an add-on photo-etched set, not a kit. The plastic model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
