1:35 U.S.M.C. (5)

The real subject

The US Marine Corps, U.S.M.C. for short, is an independent branch of the American armed forces intended for landing and expeditionary operations. Its members move between ship and shore, so on models they appear both with amphibious equipment and beside ordinary wheeled and tracked vehicles. That is precisely why US Marine Corps figures are a rewarding accessory for dioramas.

What the set contains

In the package there are five figures in 1:35 scale. Five figures are enough to make a whole scene out of: a pair in conversation, a soldier leaning against the side of a vehicle and others looking elsewhere. It is precisely such a placement that makes a scene believable, because the group looks like people absorbed in their own business rather than like a row of mannequins.

Building and painting tips

Before painting, wash the figures in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let them dry out perfectly. Cut surplus material and traces of manufacture off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder down lightly. Attach the small parts with cyanoacrylate super glue drop by drop. Verify the shades of the uniform and of the camouflage pattern beforehand against photographs from the period you are building, because the kit of the US Marine Corps changed markedly over time. Paint in thin coats, or the modeling of the folds will be lost; finish the faces off with a dark wash into the shadows and a light touch on the cheekbones.

Who it is for

The set is for modelers who build American equipment in 1:35 scale and for builders of dioramas who need a group of soldiers in a scene all at once. Neither paints nor glue are included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
