U.S.M.C. Corpsman and WIA, Tet 1968 in 1:35 scale is an unpainted multi-figure set in casting resin from the manufacturer Bravo 6. The subject is a medic treating a wounded man, that is a composition with a plain tie between the figures.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is cast in casting resin and holds a composition of a medic and a wounded soldier. The term corpsman is used for the medical personnel attached to Marine Corps units, and the abbreviation WIA (wounded in action) denotes a wounded man. It is not a model of equipment but a figure accessory in 1:35 scale for a diorama scene or a display case on its own.
The composition is built so that the figures form a single whole: one figure is in action, the other in a position that completes it. Such pairs are among the most rewarding diorama subjects, because they carry plain action even without surrounding scenery. The set belongs to the range of Marines from 1968, worked up in a uniform style, so it can be combined with further sets of the same range. The castings are supplied divided into several parts, so that the folds of the uniform and the carried kit stand out; resin holds finer detail than injection-molded plastic.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent, so that the release agent from the mold is removed. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw, level the surfaces with abrasive paper and protect your airways while sanding. It is glued with cyanoacrylate super glue; cement for plastic will not help. With a pair of figures, try the assembly out dry first and fine-tune the mutual position. Paint over a primer; build the skin up in thin coats, because the face is plainly visible on a lying figure, and keep the uniform in the olive green shades of tropical field equipment. A dark wash will pick the folds out and a fine dry brush will pull the edges of the kit out.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
