An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern AH-1Z Viper attack helicopter in 1:35 scale from Academy. The model catches the eye with the striking shark mouth on the nose and offers a well worked-out cockpit, faithful armament and several marking options for units of the US Marine Corps (USMC).
The AH-1Z Viper is so far the newest member of the family of attack helicopters derived from the legendary Cobra. Compared with the older single-engined machines, the Viper received two turboshaft engines for greater power and resilience and a modern four-blade main rotor. With the US Marine Corps it carries out close air support and the destruction of ground targets; in its chin turret it carries a 20 mm rotary cannon, and on the tips of its stub wings anti-tank guided missiles, unguided rockets and air-to-air missiles.
Glue the parts with thin modeling cement for plastic. Mask the cockpit glazing before building and paint it separately so that it stays clear. Assemble and fill the rotor blades and the armament carefully, because on a helicopter they are very much on show. A base coat of primer and spraying with an airbrush are recommended; final washes and dry highlighting of the edges help the detail of the panels and the rivets to stand out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
