This is a Black Dog accessory set for the USMC LAV A2 armored vehicle in 1:35. It is not a vehicle kit and not a model on its own: it is an accessory that is added to a model you have already built. The difference between a clean vehicle straight from the factory and a machine with weeks in the field behind it comes down to exactly this kind of material, hung and loaded on the hull.
The LAV-25 is an eight-wheeled amphibious fighting and reconnaissance vehicle of the US Marine Corps, derived from the Piranha family and built in Canada. It entered service in the 1980s and carries a powered turret with a 25 mm automatic cannon and a coaxial machine gun. The A2 designation belongs to an upgraded standard that strengthened the ballistic protection, reworked the suspension and brought more modern observation and sighting equipment. LAVs went through the Persian Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan, and period photographs make it striking how much equipment the crews carried on them.
First lay the accessories out dry and compare the arrangement with period photographs of the particular vehicle, and only then fix them in place. Painting is easiest away from the vehicle: the base shades first, then darker toning into the folds and edges picked out in a lighter tone. Dust is unified with pigments in the soil shade of the battlefield you are modeling, and the whole thing is sealed with a matte varnish.
