Replacement road wheels for kits of the German light cross-country car VW Kübelwagen. According to the name this is the with caps rendition, that is, with hubcaps, and the type 1 pattern. The qualifier weighted means a tire with a trodden patch of the kind that appears under a standing vehicle.
The Kübelwagen, listed at the factory as Type 82, was created on the platform of the people's car designed by the office of Ferdinand Porsche. At the rear it had an air-cooled flat-four engine, it drove the rear wheels only and it had no reduction for both axles. Even so it held up surprisingly well off the road, thanks to a low weight of around seven hundred kilograms, generous ground clearance under the chassis and reduction gears in the rear hubs. The angular pressed sheet metal of the body could be made quickly and simply. Around fifty thousand of these vehicles were built during the war and they reached every battlefield from North Africa to the Russian winter.
The Kübelwagen is most often built in a dark yellow or a gray shade depending on the period. Set the tires apart in a dark gray-brown, leave the hubcaps in the color of the vehicle and bring the transition to the rubber out gently, so that it is noticeable at first glance.
