1:35 Wooden Crate Set No.2

1:35 Wooden Crate Set No.2 - wooden crates for a scene in 1:35 scale

1:35 Wooden Crate Set No.2 is a set of RT-Diorama wooden crates in 1:35 scale. It is not a model of a vehicle but an accessory for filling and enlivening a scene - the load, the stocks and the material without which a diorama looks empty.

Why crates work in a diorama

A crate is a versatile prop. On the bed of a truck it explains why the truck is on the move; in a store and at a field kitchen it creates a support area; at a ruin it suggests that somebody was moving out or that there was a store there. Wooden crates were also used across armies and in civilian life throughout the twentieth century, so they are not tied to one era or one country and come into their own in a military and a civilian scene alike.

Tips for placing them

• Stack them irregularly - a perfectly even heap looks unnatural
• Set one crate away from the stack or prop it up; that creates the impression of work in progress
• Build a link to the figures: a crate being carried, set down or used as a seat gives the scene its action
• Do not fill the whole area; clear space matters as much to the readability of a scene as the load does

Who the set is for

For modelers who create dioramas and vignettes in 1:35 scale, and for anyone who wants to add a load to the bed of a vehicle or a support area around it. The set is part of a numbered range of crates from the same manufacturer, and the individual sets can be combined in a scene.
