A figure cast from modeling resin in 1:35 scale, that is in the scale in which most models of armored vehicles are built. It shows a wounded soldier of the tank units in dress corresponding to the period 1939 to 1943. The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted and is intended to complete a diorama or to be displayed on its own on a base. The manufacturer is Evolution Miniatures.
A resin casting allows finer and crisper detail than injection-molded plastic can manage — the folds of the clothing, the equipment and the features of the face are modeled more precisely. The price for that is a different preparation procedure: the figure is divided into several parts that are joined to casting blocks, and the surface carries residues of mold release agent.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and let them dry thoroughly, otherwise the paint will not adhere. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a knife, not with nippers, as resin is brittle and could crack. Sand the cut surfaces and do not inhale the dust that is produced; work with respiratory protection and preferably wet. It is glued exclusively with cyanoacrylate glue, as solvent cements for plastic do not hold on resin. Fill the seams after gluing and sand them down. Before painting, apply primer, which evens the surface out and brings out the detail. With the face and the hands it works well to build up in layers from a darker base toward lighter areas, while the clothing is livened up by a wash in the folds and a dry brush on the raised edges.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin casting. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. It is not intended for children under 14 years.
