This item is not a kit of the tank but a basic photo-etched upgrade set from the maker Voyager Model. It is intended for detailing a model of the German Panther Ausf.G medium tank in its early production form, in 1:35 scale. The designation basic means that the set covers the main external elements of the superstructure, which cannot be made thin enough in injection-molded plastic. The set is cut for the Meng TS-052 kit; the outlines of the parts differ between sets for different kits. The exact contents of the package are stated on the box of the set.
The Panther Ausf.G was the most numerously produced version of the German Panther medium tank, introduced from 1944. It differed from the older versions above all in the simplified construction of the hull sides without the cutout for the driver's hatch, in a revised mounting of the vision port and in a number of production simplifications. The main armament was a long 7.5 cm gun with a high muzzle velocity, and power came from a twelve-cylinder gasoline engine. The early examples of the G version still carried some features of the previous production, which matters to a modeler when choosing a particular machine.
Cut the parts out of the fret with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface and deburr the remains of the tabs with a fine file. Make the bends along the etched grooves, and on long parts exclusively in a photo-etch bending tool, otherwise a ripple will form. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied with a toothpick in a minimal amount. Degrease the sheet before painting and spray on a primer. Fit the photo-etched parts as you go through the build rather than onto a finished model, because you will not reach some places later on. A wash into the recesses and dry pigment on the running gear work well at the end.
This is an add-on photo-etched set, not a model. The base kit, glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
