A basic set of photo-etched brass parts for a plastic model of the Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.F1 tank in 1:35 scale. The set is cut for the Tamiya 35374 kit — that detail matters, because Voyager also makes a set under the same name for a model from a different manufacturer, and the parts are not interchangeable between them. It is not a model of a vehicle, but an accessory to a kit under construction.
Compared with the older versions, the Ausf.F1 has a reworked front of the hull: a flat front plate, redesigned covers and a row of small parts around the driver's vision port and the machine gun position. This is exactly the area a viewer sees first on a model, and at the same time the place where plastic comes off worst — the hinge covers, the grab handles, the eyes and the rims are thinner there in 1:35 scale than a mold allows. A photo-etched part, by contrast, is genuinely thin and sits down on a flat surface with no step, so the front end gains a sharpness that you will not get out of plastic even by sanding.
Plan the order against the painting. Fit the photo-etched parts that lie on a large smooth surface before you spray the base color — otherwise you will be gluing onto paint, the joint will be weak and you will damage the finish while cleaning off the surplus glue. Parts that would be in the way of masking, or that are easily knocked off during handling, should be left until the end. Degrease all the brass with alcohol before fitting, and once it is fitted spray the primer over the whole model at once — the transition between plastic and metal then disappears. Dose the cyanoacrylate glue sparingly; a surplus on a smooth surface will lighten after spraying.
The set is an accessory, not a kit. The model, glue, primer and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
