About product

Basic photo-etched set 1:35 for the T-26 model 1931 (Voyager Model)

The set holds photo-etched brass parts for detailing a plastic kit, which you will not find in the package. It is cut for the HobbyBoss 82494 kit and you will not transfer it to another model without modification. Voyager Model is a Chinese manufacturer of photo-etched accessories for military subjects in 1:35 scale.

The real subject

The T-26 was a Soviet light infantry tank derived from a British licensed design of the turn of the 1920s and 1930s. The model 1931 configuration is the earliest production form, characterized by a pair of small turrets side by side instead of the single rotating turret of later vehicles. The vehicle was built in large numbers and became the backbone of the Soviet armored units of the prewar period. The riveted hull and the small sheet-metal cladding offer the modeler a rewarding field for fine detailing.

Handling tiny parts

Basic sets tend to be made up mainly of small features, with which working habits rather than dexterity decide the outcome. Use tweezers with ground tips rather than the pair from the first-aid kit, otherwise the parts will fly off. Divide the work into short stretches and put finished subassemblies into jar lids rather than loose on the table. Never cut the whole fret apart at once; cut the parts out of it one at a time, just before gluing. A lost photo-etched part cannot be bought or replaced, and one such mishap usually costs the whole set.

Building and painting tips

Make the bends on the marked groove in one stroke, and glue with thin cyanoacrylate picked up with a pin. Degrease the brass and cover it with a primer for metal, then paint in thin coats. On interwar subjects, fine weathering and dust pay off rather than dramatic rust.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of Soviet interwar and early wartime subjects.
  • Modelers who want to try photo-etched parts on a smaller scope.
  • Anyone after a display-case model with fine fittings.

The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, which it does not include. The glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It is not. The product holds photo-etched brass parts only. The kit has to be bought separately.

It is the earliest production form of the T-26, with a pair of small turrets side by side instead of the single rotating turret of later vehicles.

The leaner variant of the set, with a smaller scope than the full sets by the same manufacturer.

Cut them out of the fret one at a time just before gluing, use tweezers with ground tips and put finished subassemblies into a dish.
