An application set for imitating Zimmerit on the King Tiger with the Porsche turret in 1:35 scale from the Czech maker Eduard. An accessory for a plastic model, not a stand-alone model.
Responsibility details are not available.
An Eduard application set for the faithful imitation of Zimmerit on the German King Tiger heavy tank with the early Porsche turret in 1:35 scale. This is not a model of the vehicle but an accessory, which carries the structure of the anti-magnetic coating over onto a plastic model. The preformed parts copy the shape of the hull and the turret and save the laborious engraving of the pattern by hand.
Zimmerit was a paste applied to German vehicles in the years 1943 to 1944 against magnetic mines sticking to them; on the surface it formed a typical ribbed pattern. The King Tiger (Tiger II) was a German heavy tank of the Second World War with a long-barreled gun of 88 mm caliber. The first vehicles built carried the rounded Porsche turret, which was later replaced by the Henschel turret, simpler to manufacture.
Separate the parts carefully, lay them on the degreased surface of the model and stick them on with super glue. Once it has dried, the whole can be sprayed with a base coat and weathered with washes and pigments just like the surrounding surfaces.
The accessory is supplied on its own, without the model of the vehicle, paints and glue.
