Zimmerit Panther Ausf.A 1:35 is a photo-etched metal set from Eduard, which faithfully imitates the structure of the Zimmerit coating on a model of the Panther Ausf.A medium tank.

This is not a model of the tank but a photo-etched metal detail accessory from the Czech maker Eduard. Thin photo-etched sheets with an engraved structure imitate Zimmerit, the anti-magnetic paste that German armored vehicles were given as protection against magnetic mines sticking to them. The set is intended for models of the Panther Ausf.A medium tank in 1:35 scale.
Zimmerit was applied to Panthers in characteristic patterns. The photo-etched parts of this set copy the shape of the armor surfaces of the hull and the turret, so that once they are stuck on, a continuous relief of Zimmerit comes about without the laborious shaping of texture by hand with putty.
Clean and degrease the surfaces of the model, stick the photo-etched parts on with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and press them so that they sit exactly into the edges and folds. Small transitions can be finished off with putty. The relief comes out nicely once a primer has been sprayed on and during the weathering that follows.
This is a detail accessory, not a stand-alone model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
