Decals for the ZSU-23-4 anti-aircraft system in 1:35 scale from Star Decals. Markings from Soviet and Russian service.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set of Star Decals follows one type across two stages: Soviet service and the later period of the Russian army. The ZSU-23-4 stayed in use for a very long time, so the change in the marking of equipment between the period of the Cold War and more recent times can be traced on it.
The ZSU-23-4 is a self-propelled anti-aircraft system with four automatic 23 mm guns in an enclosed rotating turret. The fundamental difference from the older machines is a radar of its own, which made it possible to fire even in poor visibility and against fast moving targets. The chassis with six road wheels on each side was designed directly for this role. The vehicle went through several modernizations, which showed in its external appearance as well, and in later service it was widely used against ground targets too.
The turret has relatively small continuous areas divided by hinges, grab handles and the radar cover, so check in advance where each decal will fit and, if need be, seat it on the hull. Soviet and Russian vehicles most often carried markings on a rich green paint, where white artwork contrasts most: level the base with gloss varnish and leave the matting down until it has dried, so that the edges of the film are not left apparent.
