Flesh shades divide in modeling roughly into two families. Warm tones shifted toward yellow and pink serve living human characters, while cool and faded ones belong to everything that is to look otherwise: to elves, vampires, sea creatures or the inhabitants of a world without a sun. This shade stands unambiguously in the second group.
On its own it is not a finished flesh. A light tone without a shadow looks like plaster on a figure. Prepare a darker complement to it, best an ocher or a pinkish brown, and apply it into the eye sockets, under the cheekbones, into the groove under the nose and between the fingers. Only the difference between light and shadow creates the impression of a face.
A practical procedure: start with a surface a step darker, lighten with thin glazes toward the forehead, the bridge of the nose, the chin and the collarbones and place the lightest point on only three to four spots. Thin the coats heavily, because light pigments easily clog the pores and the features of a face get lost under them.
Not only on skin: a cool pale tone serves well on bone, the faded canvas of a tent, a skull on a base or on a light accent in clothing, where a pure white would be too hard. A small part mixed into another color turns it into a softened variant shifted toward milky.
Before you start: on a face always work with the model set down in your hand and with good light from above. Flesh is judged from a distance, not with a magnifier.
