Artwox Model 1:350 Zerstorer Z-43 1944 is a wooden veneer deck with an adhesive backing and pre-printed plank laying for the Trumpeter 05323 kit of the German destroyer.

An accessory for a plastic kit, not a model. The package contains a thin veneer of real wood printed with the laying of the deck planks and with an adhesive layer on the back. The parts are cut to the shape of the Trumpeter 05323 kit, so check before you buy that you are building that release.
A plastic deck has the plank laying only suggested by engraved lines. Even when the engraving is fine, it is still a uniform surface in a single color, so the deck ultimately has to be painted and the seams brought out by hand. A wood veneer deals with both at once: it has the grain of the material itself, so every plank has a slightly different tone, and the transitions between planks are real, not drawn. The result is that the surface responds to light in a way painted plastic cannot, even on a smaller model such as a destroyer. On the narrow decks of destroyers the effect is surprisingly strong, because the wooden areas contrast with the gray hull and superstructure and the area is not so large that gluing is demanding.
Sand the plastic, clear it of mold marks and degrease it. Take the film off the back in sections, lay the piece dry first and line it up, then glue from the center outward. Trim small overhangs with a sharp knife along the edge of the plastic. A thin coat of matte varnish is enough at the end.
