The plastic kit AFV Club 1:350 Gato Class Submarine 1941 captures the American ocean-going Gato-class submarine of the Second World War in its 1941 configuration.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit from AFV Club in 1:350 scale represents the American ocean-going Gato-class submarine in its 1941 form. According to the instructions it can be built either as a full-hull model on a stand or in a waterline version on the surface. The set also holds photo-etched parts for finer detail.
The Gato class was a numerous group of American ocean-going submarines deployed during the Second World War, above all in the Pacific. They were double-hull boats with diesel-electric propulsion, long range and heavy torpedo armament, suited to long-distance patrol cruises. The 1941 configuration matches the early wartime form of the armament and the superstructure.
Decide between the full-hull and the waterline variant in advance. Separate the small photo-etched parts with a sharp knife and glue them with super glue, and the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement. Degrease the surface before spraying, use a primer and apply the paint with an airbrush; bring out the deck and the details with a dark wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
