An accessory for models in 1:48 scale: the French MAC 31 machine gun with its conspicuous drum magazine on the side of the weapon.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MAC 31 is a French machine gun of 7.5 mm caliber from the early 1930s, meant for firing from confined spaces. Its identifying mark is the drum magazine carried on the side of the weapon, which replaced belt feed that was unsuited to the inside of a vehicle or to a concrete embrasure. The weapon was fitted in French armored vehicles and in permanent fortifications, where it served as main and coaxial armament.
The accessory in 1:48 scale replaces a coarsely shaped weapon from a kit, or adds armament where the model offers none at all. It is also at home in a diorama, where the weapon lies on its own or is carried by a figure. The part is very small at this scale, so work over a tray with raised edges and pick it up with smooth-jawed tweezers.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder off carefully with fine sandpaper so as not to sand the shape of the weapon away. Wash and degrease the part before painting, or the coat will not hold on the smooth surface. Lay the paint on in thin coats so that the relief of the magazine and the surface of the weapon stay visible; a dry brush will then help bring out a metallic cast.
This is an accessory for a model. Paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
