About product

HMS Argonaut, 1:350 (Trumpeter)

An injection-molded plastic kit of the Royal Navy light cruiser HMS Argonaut in 1:350 scale from Trumpeter. The model depicts a Dido-class ship with its characteristic armament in enclosed gun turrets. The set includes hull parts, superstructure, fine deck-equipment detail and a decal sheet. Check the exact package contents and the number of photo-etched parts against the enclosed instructions.

The real subject

HMS Argonaut was a Dido-class light cruiser, built at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s. Ships of this class were designed as fast, general-purpose cruisers with a main armament usable against aircraft. During the war, Argonaut took part in fighting in the Mediterranean and in supporting landings; it suffered serious damage, was repaired and returned to service. It served as a typical representative of British light cruisers of its era.

Building and painting tips

Decide whether you will build the full hull or the waterline version on a stand. Glue the small railing and armament parts with cyanoacrylate. A primer base, airbrush spraying, and highlighting the deck and panels with wash shades all work well. Optional add-on photo-etched railing increases the fidelity of the result.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of Royal Navy ships
  • Modelers interested in Second World War light cruisers
  • Builders working in the popular 1:350 ship scale
  • Experienced modelers as well as patient beginners

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
