Artwox Model 1:350 HMS King George V is an adhesive wooden deck in veneer with pre-printed plank laying, cut for the plastic deck of the Tamiya 78010 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for a plastic model, not a kit. The package contains a thin veneer of real wood printed with the laying of the deck planks and with an adhesive layer on the back. The parts are cut to the shape of the Tamiya 78010 kit, so check before you order that you are building the same release.
On larger projects a wooden deck is rarely fitted on its own. Photo-etched railings, ladders, anchor chain or masking templates usually join it, and the order of work then decides the result. It is proven practice to leave the veneer as one of the last big operations on the deck: first finish and spray the hull and the plastic deck, let the paint cure properly, and only then glue the wood on. Paint applied over the edge of the veneer is hard to correct, whereas the other way round is no problem. Photo-etched railings are fitted after the deck is laid, because their feet are glued into small holes along the edge that the veneer does not cover. With cyanoacrylate for the etch, take care that none gets onto the wood, where it leaves a dark stain you will never remove. The gel version applied with a pin is safer.
Sand the plastic, remove the mold marks and degrease it. Take the film off the back in sections and line the piece up dry before you press it down. A thin coat of matte varnish is enough at the end; it protects the wood and unifies the sheen with the surrounding surface.
The accessory is supplied separately. The kit, paints, etch and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
