FineMolds 1:350 IJN Destroyer Akebono is an injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese Fubuki-class destroyer as she appeared in 1944.
Responsibility details are not available.
This plastic kit captures the Japanese destroyer Akebono, a Special Type unit of the Fubuki class, as she appeared in 1944 with reinforced anti-aircraft armament. The model in 1:350 scale brings newly tooled parts for the characteristic features of the ship, for example the dished air intake and the machine gun position at the foot of the second funnel.
Akebono was the eighteenth of the twenty-four units of the Fubuki Special Type and the eighth ship of Type II. She entered service in 1931, took part in the fighting of the Second Sino-Japanese War and later in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Toward the end of the war, like many Japanese destroyers, she received markedly reinforced anti-aircraft armament, which the model faithfully reflects.
The hull can be assembled as a full hull; for presentation, consider a stand. Glue the parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and the fine parts with a drop of super glue. A primer and an airbrush are the way to go. The quantity of anti-aircraft guns will repay careful painting and a fine wash; a hint of service weathering suits the deck. Photo-etched railings will refine the model further (not included, unless stated otherwise).
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
