This is an accessory, not a ship model. The set holds accurate photo-etched railing intended for Japanese warships in 1:350 scale. The fine etched railing with its stanchions and horizontal rails replaces thick plastic work or fills the places where a deck has no railing at all. The universal design makes it possible to fit decks, walkways and superstructure alike.
Railing ran around the walking decks and the walkways of warships and kept the crew from falling overboard. On a model it is one of the most conspicuous features and it decides the overall impression of a finished ship. Japanese patterns tend to have a characteristic arrangement of rails.
Part the railing from the fret carefully with a sharp knife on a hard surface. Measure it against the length of the deck and cut the surplus back. It is glued with cyanoacrylate applied in a small amount at the foot of the stanchions. It is practical to paint the railing before gluing and then only touch the joints in once it is seated.
This is a separate accessory to a plastic model. The ship kit itself, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
