An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern diesel-electric submarine Type 039A (Yuan class) of the PLA Navy, in 1:350 scale from the manufacturer Hobby Boss. The model has a full hull and comes with photo-etched parts and a stand. It is meant to be assembled, painted and displayed.
The Type 039A, Yuan in the NATO code, is a newer class of Chinese diesel-electric attack submarines following on from the older Song class. It has a teardrop hull and a large sail and is often associated with features derived from the design of the Kilo class. It serves for attacks on surface and submarine targets and for patrol work.
Glue the hull halves with a thin cement, sand the joint smooth and clean it up. We recommend a primer and an airbrush; a uniform dark matte shade with discreet accenting of the hatches and the leading edges of the sail is typical. Glue the photo-etched propeller and the small parts with cyanoacrylate glue and set the model on the stand.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
