Bell OH-13 Sioux SPACE, 1:48 is a set of color 3D decals from Eduard for the cabin interior of the helicopter. It replaces painting small details by hand in a space that on this machine is visible from every side.

An accessory, not a kit. The SPACE line from the Czech firm Eduard consists of 3D printed decals with the color printed from the factory and with raised relief. On the OH-13 helicopter this kind of set makes more sense than on most aircraft: the cabin is formed by a transparent sphere, so an observer looks into the interior from every angle and flat unpainted plastic catches the eye there at once.
The OH-13 Sioux is a light observation and liaison helicopter with a piston engine, a lattice rear boom and a characteristic spherical glazed cabin. It served for reconnaissance, fire control and the carriage of wounded on external carriers. It is precisely the open structure that means there is nowhere on a model to hide unfinished work.
The work is short but calls for cleanliness. The area where a decal is to go has to be smooth, degreased and free of fingerprints. Separate the elements only just before gluing, moisten only the backing paper, lay them down with tweezers and fix them with PVA white glue. Nothing is painted over, and that is the main saving of time against the usual procedure, where every dial is painted with a brush. Do not use a decal softener at all, as its chemicals attack the printed resin and ruin the element. With a helicopter with spherical glazing it also pays to match the sheen: go over the interior with a matte coat so that it does not shine under the clear part. Fit the glazing right at the end and protect it with a mask.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a stand-alone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
