Note that this is NOT a ship model but an accessory detail set. It holds photo-etched parts representing the degaussing cables that ran along the sides of warships. The set serves to make ship models in 1:350 scale more convincing and better finished.
In the Second World War ships were threatened by magnetic mines and torpedoes that responded to the magnetic field of the hull. Degaussing cables run along the sides of ships suppressed this field and reduced the risk of a hit.
For modelers who want to add fine, period-accurate detail to a 1:350 ship model. Working with photo-etch calls for experience and bonding with super glue.
This is an add-on set, not a standalone model. The basic ship model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
