A plastic kit of the American GUPPY II class submarine in 1:350 scale from AFV Club. The model can be built as a full-hull version (with a stand) or in a waterline version. Photo-etched parts are included in the package as well.
The GUPPY program was a postwar modernization of the American Balao and Gato class submarines. The boats received a streamlined hull, stronger batteries and modified equipment, which markedly improved their speed and range below the surface. The GUPPY II version was among the most widespread conversions and a number of boats also served with Allied navies.
Decide in advance whether you are building a full-hull model on a stand or a waterline version for a diorama. It is worth using the fine photo-etched parts, priming the model and painting it with an airbrush. Transitions and traces of service are refined with light washes.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
