Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:350 scale from Trumpeter portrays the modern American amphibious transport dock USS New York (LPD-21). The package holds a high number of parts, a one-piece hull, photo-etched parts, a metal anchor chain and a set of deck equipment, landing vehicles and helicopters. The model allows a build with the full hull on a stand as well as in waterline form.
USS New York is one of the American San Antonio class amphibious transport docks (the LPD type, Landing Platform Dock). These ships carry Marine Corps units together with their vehicles and land them using landing craft from a covered well dock and using helicopters or tiltrotors from a large flight deck. USS New York is also known for the fact that steel from the destroyed World Trade Center was symbolically worked into her bow. The ship combines transport capacity with modern electronics and a low radar signature of the superstructures.
Paint the broken superstructures with their characteristic sloping surfaces section by section and watch for crisp edges. Bond the fine photo-etched railings and antennas with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and the plastic with thin liquid cement. Apply a primer before using an airbrush. The landing vehicles, craft and helicopters included make it possible to bring the flight deck and the well deck to life. For a faithful look, a restrained wash in the recesses and fine weathering of the hull work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
