An injection-molded plastic kit of the American heavy cruiser USS San Francisco from the manufacturer Trumpeter in 1:350 scale, capturing the ship in her combat fit of 1942. The hull is split for the build of a full hull as well as a waterline version. The kit holds detailed superstructure, main-caliber turrets, anti-aircraft armament, boats and a stand. Mind the difference from the later fit of the same ship from 1944, which has a different outfit and camouflage.
USS San Francisco was a heavy cruiser of the New Orleans class. In 1942 she made her mark in the fighting for Guadalcanal, above all in the night naval battle of November 1942, where she took heavy hits and losses of life but stayed fit to fight. She is among the most decorated American warships. The 1942 fit matches the earlier configuration of the armament and the period camouflage, before the later changes.
Choose between the full hull and the waterline before you glue the hull. Glue the fine superstructure and the gun barrels with a thin cement for plastic and sand the joints carefully. Extra photo-etched railings, ladders and radars, which are not in the package, will noticeably refine the model. For 1942 choose an American camouflage scheme that matches the period; an airbrush, fine accenting of the panels and a discreet patina will emphasize the complex superstructure. Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat and seal them with a matte one.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
