A set of detail parts in 1:12 scale that reproduces large Dzus type quick-release fasteners. It is intended for builds of motorcycles, single-seaters and racing cars in the large scale. It is an accessory, and there is no model in the package.
The Dzus is a quarter-turn quick-release fastener: a slotted stud is pushed into a spring receptacle and locked with a quarter turn. It originated in aviation, where a service panel had to come off without a key and without the risk that the fastener would work loose from vibration, and motorsport took it over from aircraft. On circuit machines it holds fairings, service covers and floors, because a mechanic can release a whole panel with a few turns of a screwdriver. The fasteners are made in several sizes and head shapes, which is why the name carries the designations large and Type 2; the sister versions differ in both head shape and size.
The fasteners are seated in previously marked positions only after the panel has been painted, because their metallic sheen is hard to mask. They look best as a separately painted part: stick them face down on double-sided tape, spray them in a metallic shade and seat them with cyanoacrylate glue dosed with a pin. Compare the layout and the number of fasteners with a photograph of the machine you are building — they differ between years and teams.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
