C3 WRC Antracita

The color

The dark gray Antracita shade from the Number 5 line is named after the Citroën C3 WRC rally car. The line offers tones kept by individual cars, so a builder takes a color in the spirit of the real subject straight away. The shade is intended for the bodies of car models, but it will also serve where a dark gray is needed on a frame, wheel arches or chassis parts.

Dark gray on a model

Dark shades cover readily and make do with fewer coats than light tones. They have their drawback, though: they absorb shadow, and shaped surfaces therefore run together on a model. Lightening the edges and the edges above the wheels slightly, or a faint touch of a lighter gray in the top coat, will help. A dark surface also gives away every uneven patch of gloss, so apply the coats evenly and equally thick.

Painting tips

• Wash and degrease the parts, as a greasy print is clearly visible on a dark surface.
• Stir the contents of the bottle right down to the bottom, as settled pigment would throw the shade off.
• Apply thin coats and let the surface dry between them.
• Rally cars carry a lot of decals, so prepare a smooth glossy surface under them.
• Stick masking tape only onto fully cured paint.

Terms of supply

The paint is supplied as described. The model, a primer, thinner, a top varnish and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. For thinning, cleaning tools and drying time, go by the manufacturer's details on the packaging. Work in a ventilated room and store the bottle carefully closed out of the reach of children.
