Dark British Racing Green is the dark reading of British racing green from the Number Five modeling paint range, intended above all for the bodywork of car models.
Responsibility details are not available.
A dark green shade from the Number Five modeling palette. In practice British racing green occurs across a whole scale of readings, from almost olive to a deep bottle green, and this variant is one of the darker ones. For thinning and cleaning, use the thinner of the same brand that the manufacturer offers; with body shades that is the surest route to a smooth coat.
Dark greens are deep in tone and their final character depends heavily on what lies under them. A light base brightens the shade and draws the green out of it, a dark one pulls it into a graver, almost black reading. Decide consciously at the base coat stage, then, and stick to one base over the whole body shell, otherwise a different tone will show on the parts you paint separately. Apply the paint in thin coats; a dark shade tempts you into covering everything at once, which clogs the engraved panel lines.
For builders of car models who want a darker reading of British racing green instead of the lighter variants, and who work with an airbrush and polished varnish.
Both the paint and the thinner are flammable and give off fumes, so work with ventilation and with your airways protected.
