1:100 FCM 36 with the APX-R turret combines the faceted welded hull of the French tank with a cast turret of the kind the R35 vehicles carried. A resin kit from the Zebrano brand.
Responsibility details are not available.
A combination you will not spot in an ordinary photograph from 1940: the angular welded hull of the FCM 36 tank topped by a cast turret of the APX-R type. The kit is cast in resin and the 1:100 scale makes it a fitting addition to collections focused on French equipment and to gaming armies alike.
The French light tanks of the 1933 program shared the same turret, the cast octagonal APX-R. The vehicle from FCM was the exception, because it came with a welded structure of its own. When the re-arming with the longer 37 mm gun was being worked out, it turned out that the welded turret could not take the stress of firing, and for the new weapon the cast APX-R version was preferred. That gave rise to the combination captured on this model: hull armor with large angles and above it the massive casting of the turret with rounded sides and a vision cupola.
The interesting thing is that two completely different surfaces meet on one vehicle. The hull is smooth and sharp-edged, while the turret had a rough as-cast surface. The difference can be suggested: apply the primer more heavily on the turret and roughen it lightly by stippling with a sponge, and leave the hull smooth. Once dry, a thin filter or a very thin wash will unify the two and will run into the parting gap between the turret and the hull, marking it out optically.
It is sold as an unassembled and unpainted resin kit; neither paints nor glue are included with it.
