A masking set from the Omask brand intended for the kit of the British carrier fighter Fairey Fulmar from Trumpeter in 1:48 scale, usable for the Mk.I as well as the Mk.II versions. The Fulmar carries a long glazed canopy over its two-seat cockpit with dense framing, so clean separation of the frames from the clear surfaces is among the most demanding steps of the whole build on this type. The prepared templates will speed this work up markedly and give it the assurance of a repeatable result that is achieved only with difficulty by cutting out by hand.
The Fulmar came about at the end of the 1930s from the design of the Battle light bomber and became the first modern single-engine fighter of the Fleet Air Arm. The two-man crew corresponded to the doctrine of the time, when a navigator helped the pilot with orientation over the sea. Despite its weight and only average speed the type proved itself very well in protecting convoys in the Mediterranean, and on the decks of aircraft carriers it served from 1940 until the middle of the war. The Mk.II version was given a more powerful Merlin engine and small modifications of the equipment.
Degrease the surface of the model before masking and lay the templates on step by step, always from one edge. Apply the paint in several weak layers; with British camouflage schemes it proves itself to start with the lighter shade of the lower surfaces.
