A car antenna of the second type in 1:24 scale is an alternative shape for builders for whom the first version does not match their subject.

This item is a single small building component, not a kit. The number in the name refers to the shape: the Yamamoto Model Parts brand keeps several versions in its range so that a builder can choose according to what they have in a photograph of their subject. The differences between them are in the profile and the proportions, not in the purpose.
The placement differs from car to car according to the era and the market. Older cars tend to have the item on a front fender, newer ones more often on the roof near the rear edge, and on some types it also turns up in the middle of the hood. Choosing the place therefore belongs to the research before a build just as much as choosing the shade of the bodywork. On a period car it is exactly this small item that is one of the few signs that give away whether the builder really studied the subject.
First mark the position on the bodywork with a fine marker that can be wiped off. Pre-drill the hole with a hand-held pin vise rather than a power drill, so that it does not slip. Set the part in dry and check that it is square both from the side and from the front, because a leaning antenna is conspicuous on a model. Only then fix the joint and clean off any excess with a toothpick.
