Switch Lubricant is a grease from the Tamiya tool range intended for the contact surfaces of mechanical speed controls and switches in radio-controlled models. It keeps its viscosity even when the contact heats up, so the film of grease does not run off and the control stays smooth. The tube has a screw-on tip for precise dosing.
First clean the old grease and the burnt film off the contacts, otherwise the dirt just gets smeared around. Apply a truly tiny amount directly onto the track the wiper runs along; more grease will improve nothing here and will attract dust instead. After greasing, run the speed control through its whole range a few times so that the layer spreads evenly.
For owners of older radio-controlled models with a mechanical speed control and for modelers who maintain working electromechanics themselves. On electronic speed controls without moving contacts the product has no purpose. Store it out of the reach of children and wash any residue off your hands with soap and water.
You can recognize a mechanical speed control by the wiper that moves along the resistance track together with the throttle servo. It is on this track that the heat and the burnt film build up, which makes the model jerk as it pulls away.
