A Peewit masking set for the Percival P.50 Sea Prince C.1 model in 1:72 scale makes painting the glazed nose of the naval liaison aircraft easier.
Responsibility details are not available.
A Peewit accessory intended for painting a model of the British twin-engine Sea Prince liaison aircraft in the C.1 version. The templates will help keep the glazing clean throughout the varnishing and will give the frames a regular shape. Neither a model nor painting material is in the package; it is a standalone aid.
The Sea Prince was based on a civilian business aircraft from Percival, which firms bought for quick transfers between branches. The Fleet Air Arm turned it into a liaison and transport machine with a glazed nose and Alvis Leonides radial engines. The C.1 version carried officers and mail between bases, while a later variant served to train the crews of anti-submarine aircraft. The elegant shape of the fuselage with a tall fin makes this type an unusual addition on a shelf among fighters and bombers.
The glazed nose has curved surfaces, on which the templates work best when you seat them section by section rather than in one movement. Dark blue naval shades tend to be saturated and will bring out every overrun, so spray several thin coats instead. Paint the engine nacelles separately and attach them at the end, otherwise their rear edge is hard to reach. Once the templates are off, check the frames against the light; an imperfection shows up at once in a reflection.
The kit itself is sold separately and is not included in this item.
