3DF 1:48 AN/M2 Browning for B-17G is a set of printed machine gun barrels and mounts for a model of the Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress bomber.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set replaces the defensive armament on a model of the Flying Fortress in the G version in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit of the aircraft but an accessory with which the AN/M2 machine guns supplied in the kit are replaced. It is precisely on the weapons that a plastic part tends to be a compromise, because the parting plane of the mold runs along the whole length of the barrel and the cooling jacket comes out of it merged.
The Boeing B-17G was the most numerously built version of the four-engine day bomber and it differed from the older machines mainly by the chin turret under the nose. On this version the defensive armament was spread over the whole fuselage, from the nose through the dorsal and ball turrets to the side windows and the tail position. Heavy Browning machine guns of .50 caliber were its basis.
Printed resin is very accurate in shape but brittle, so separate the parts carefully and ideally only just before fitting. Cut the supports off with nippers and level the remains with a file. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The weapons usually come out well when they are sprayed dark and the surface is then lightly gone over with a dry brush and a metallic pigment.
The contents are an accessory set only; the model itself and material for finishing it are not part of it.
