The Fiat CR.42 Falco is an Italian single-seat fighter biplane of the late 1930s and one of the last biplanes to see combat. It had fixed landing gear, an open cockpit and an air-cooled Fiat A.74 radial engine. The radial powerplant sits in the forward fuselage in such a way that with the panels opened it is visible practically in full, and that is exactly what makes it a rewarding target for completion.
An engine accessory for a model of the Fiat CR.42 Falco. It suits anywhere you want to open the engine cowlings, set them beside the model on a base or show the machine under work in a workshop scene. The range of parts and the procedure for fitting them are given in the manufacturer's instructions; first dry-fit the parts and try them in the fuselage, because individual kits differ in the way the engine is seated.
The parts are not polystyrene and ordinary plastic cement has no effect on them; use cyanoacrylate. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the surface left behind. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. The engine comes out when you knock the base metal shade back with a dark wash that runs into the shadows between the cylinder fins, and then go lightly over the edges with a dry brush. Leave the exhausts warmer and darker than the rest of the unit.
For modelers who want to show the powerplant on a biplane and are not satisfied with a smoothly closed nose. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
