Mirage 1:400 U-511 is a plastic kit of the German ocean-going submarine of Type IXC of the period of the Second World War in 1:400 scale from the manufacturer Mirage Hobby.

This injection-molded plastic kit from the Polish manufacturer Mirage Hobby captures the German long-range submarine U-511 of Type IXC in 1:400 scale. The model is built as a full-hull replica (full hull) and is meant to be placed on a stand. The parts are molded from gray plastic; the package tends to be completed by a smaller sheet of decals. It is a smaller format, rewarding for collectors and suitable for a shelf as well.
Type IXC was a large ocean-going submarine of the Kriegsmarine designed for long combat patrols over great distances. Against the older Type IX she carried more fuel and so had a greater range. U-511 was built at the beginning of the 1940s and was later handed over to the Imperial Japanese Navy, where she served until the end of the war. These boats operated in the Atlantic and in more distant waters.
Glue the halves of the hull with a thin cement for plastic and clean up and sand over the seam on the keel carefully, so that the parting line disappears. Glue the small parts of the conning tower and the deck with care. An airbrush and gray shades suit the hull for the finish; apply the decals onto a smooth, or lightly gloss-varnished surface and fix them with a matte varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
