The SUPER HORNET F/A-18E kit from AFV Club belongs to the Q series, that is, to the shortened caricature aircraft with a large head and a short fuselage.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit from the AFV Club brand in the Q series, which modelers call egg planes. The fuselage is shortened into a squat shape while the canopy and the nose are enlarged, and yet the subject stays recognizable at first glance. The series builds quickly, does not take up half a shelf and is a rewarding rest between two demanding projects.
The F/A-18E Super Hornet is a single-seat carrier-based multirole aircraft of the US Navy. Against the older Hornet it has a larger airframe, angular intakes and more powerful engines, so it carries more fuel and more stores; it serves equally well for air combat and for attacking ground targets. The two-seat version of the same machine carries the designation F/A-18F.
The simplified shape is no excuse for cutting corners on the surface – on the contrary, every unevenness shows on a small area. So sand and smooth the fuselage joints while the model is still empty. Gray naval camouflage looks best when you enliven the base shade with lighter patches on the upper surfaces; the decals settle better on a gloss undercoat. Given the small area, choose your weathering very sparingly, or the model will lose the cheerful character it was made for.
The package contains unpainted plastic parts and decals; obtain the paints and glue to finish the model separately.
