The F-16 is a light single-engine multirole fighter that became the most widespread Western-built combat aircraft. It is powered by one turbofan engine, the control system works electronically with no mechanical link to the surfaces, and the pilot sits in a reclined seat under a bubble canopy that gives a view in every direction. The single-seat C version is a later development stage with more modern avionics. Block 40 turned it into a machine for fighting at night and in worse weather: it received the equipment to carry navigation and targeting pods, a modified head-up display and a strengthened landing gear with larger wheels, because the take-off weight had risen.

Finish and paint the cockpit before you join the fuselage, because after that there is no getting inside. The canopy is very visible on this aircraft, so take care to keep it clean: glue it with a cement for clear parts and mask the frame rather than brushing it. Glue the wheels and landing gear legs on only after the fuselage has been sprayed. The gray finish of the aircraft takes a subtle accenting of the panel joints, but keep it restrained so that the model does not look dirtier than the real thing.
For modelers of modern jet aircraft who build in 1:48 scale. The larger scale allows more careful work on the cockpit and the stores, and the finished model shows well in a display case.
