The set is not an aircraft model. It contains color-printed interior details with relief of their own, produced on a decal paper. They are applied with water exactly like ordinary decals, so gluing small photo-etched parts and slowly painting individual instruments both fall away. Intended for A-1H models in 1:48 scale.

The real subject

The Douglas A-1 Skyraider is a single-seat carrier attack aircraft with a Wright R-3350 piston radial engine. It was created at the close of the Second World War and, thanks to its great endurance and its ability to carry a heavy load of external stores, it stayed in operational service far into the jet era. The A-1H version is among the late single-seat renderings and is the most frequently modeled variant of the whole family. The cockpit of the Skyraider is roomy and clearly visible with the canopy open.

Usage tips

First paint the areas on which the print will be seated and let them dry completely. They hold best on a smooth, degreased base gone over with a gloss clear coat (Future, Klear, Tamiya X-22); on matte paint an element does not hold. Cut the parts out close to the edge of the printing, soak them only briefly in lukewarm water, seat them and press them down with a cotton swab. Do not use a decal softener or a setting solution at all, not even thinned — they would attack the printed resin and the relief. Once dry, the whole can be evened out with a matte clear coat and the edges brought out with a fine dry brush.
