A resin detail set, not an aircraft model. The set replaces the cockpit of the American Douglas A-1H Skyraider attack aircraft with a faithfully cast interior: a cockpit tub, an instrument panel, side walls and a seat with belts. It is intended for kits of this aircraft in 1:48 scale and refines the detail of the cockpit markedly against the plastic from the box.

The real subject

The Douglas A-1 Skyraider was an American single-engine piston attack aircraft with a massive radial engine and a large capacity for external stores. Nicknamed the Spad, it appeared at the end of the Second World War and became famous above all in the Korean and Vietnam wars, where its endurance and toughness let it serve in close support of ground forces and on rescue missions. The H version was single-seat.

Tips for working with resin

First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of mold release residue from the mold. Cut off the casting blocks carefully with a saw and level the surfaces; wear a respirator when sanding resin, as the dust is harmful. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate), not with ordinary plastic cement. Apply a base primer before painting.
